Toi Whakaari joined with Victoria University of Wellington in 2000 to offer New Zealand’s first-ever Master of Theatre Arts in Directing, led by Christian Penny. 2006 In 2006, the school graduated the first Bachelor of Performing Arts (Management) students and in 2007, the first students of the two-year Diploma in Costume Construction graduated.
