The Kinks est un groupe britannique de rock fondé en 1963 à Londres par les frères Ray et Dave Davies. Il est l'un des groupes majeurs de la British Invasion et reste considéré comme l'un des groupes les plus importants et influents des années 1960.
Sans jamais véritablement se séparer des Kinks, Ray Davies s'essaye à une carrière solo. Il sort notamment en 2006, son album "Other people's lives". Dans une interview datée novembre 2008, Ray Davies a déclaré qu’il existe la possibilité de reformer le groupe parce que les Kinks ont commencé à travailler à des chansons nouvelles.
