The Yellow Handkerchief is about people with self-doubt when it comes to someone they love. Its about people with trust issues who blindly trust a random store-personal and people who are so broken from the inside that their leaking persona can't be shed unless they sleep in circles and let go off the things that need to be given-up and seek the things that truly matter.
