2024 marks the 400th anniversary of Dr Challoner's Grammar School (DCGS) which was founded in 1624. As this book illustrates, DCGS has kept true to the vision of its founder, Robert Chaloner, through offering an excellent education to local students. Dr Challoner's reputation extends back to the early 17th century when the school began educating the boys of Amersham and the surrounding area. Now the school is widely recognised as one of the leading state grammar schools in the country, and is home to 1300 students aged 11-18, including girls in our co-educational Sixth Form.
The next Open Evening Event for parents of prospective Year 7 students for entry in September 2025 will take place on Thursday 19 September 2024. The Headteacher will talk at 17:00; 17:30, 18:30 and 19:00. Tours will be given throughout the evening. No registration necessary. Well established boys' secondary school with co-educational Sixth Form.
